The John S. Seybold papers, 1918-1956.

Contains documents on Seybold's military career (1918-1956) which include newspaper clippings, letters of reference and official certificates of promotion, retirement and military school completion, as well as, official correspondence, and clippings (1952-56) during the period of his governorship of the Canal Zone. One folder contains various invitations, menus, programs, security information and other memorabilia during the visit of the Queen of England to the Panama Canal Zone in 1953.

Seybold was born in Topeka, Kan. in 1897 and graduated fron West Point in 1920. He pursued Army engineer studies and was on a 3 year tour in the Canal Zone during the 1920's. From 1934-38 he was with the Vicksburg Engineer District. He became a 2nd Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in 1922, rose to Captain (1935), Major (1940), Lt.
